We’ll put it bluntly: getting to paradise isn’t cheap. The cost of airfare to Hawaii can easily range from $450-$1000, depending on when you go. Luckily, we’re going to be visiting during a relative “down season” in between the busier Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
That said, it looks like the average ticket price for early December is about $620 a person. You’ll want to fly into Honolulu International Airport, which is about a 30 minute drive from the Aulani.
Mark and I will be flying American Airlines, but only because we have a ton of miles saved up with the carrier. We recommend searching through Google Flights, Expedia, or Travelocity for the best deal.
When to get there
We’re well versed in the joys of flight delays and cancellations, so we recommend flying out on Friday, December 7th, a day before the ceremony at the very latest.
how long to stay
That’s totally up to you! Our room block rate is available from December 1st through the 17th.
Transportation on the island
If you are staying for more than a couple days, we highly recommend renting a car during your time on Oahu, especially if you want to be able to explore the island! And believe us, you’ll want to. There’s so much to see and do!
However, if you’re just going to stay a night or two, you can easily grab a Taxi or an Uber from Honolulu International Airport directly to the Aulani (about a 30-40 minute drive).
